1st Elgin Scout group wants to create new spaces and opportunities for our young people to grow and learn. Our plan is to use the wooded area at the Scout hut but at present we cannot use it for anything due to the fact dogs are walked on it, rubbish fly tipped, litter all over it, broken glass etc.
We would like to develop the ground to be used as a community (specifically young people) campsite and outside wild area. The idea would be that it could be utilized by groups as a practice camp area, transit camp area or just an area for outdoor activities.
This would be run by the Scouts but open to all groups within the community for the development and benefit primarily of the numerous areas young groups, however it would be a community asset and available to any suitable group usage. We would like a fence to go around it (approx. 6ft high, child friendly and galvanised for longevity).Scouts are an all-inclusive organisation and to promote this we would like to improve disabled access to the camping area this would give the opportunity for the disabled to enjoy the camping and outdoor activities.
