We would love you to join us by taking part in this Valentine’s Day Virtual Balloon Race. You can buy a virtual balloon, customize it and then race it for a chance to win prizes while raising money to support migrants and refugees across south London!

The Covid-19 pandemic has meant more people are going without the bare essentials we all need. But we want to help change that. We are raising money for food and other basic items on behalf of destitute families and people excluded from claiming benefits and struggling to get out of devastating poverty and financial crisis, made worse by the impact of COVID-19. Many have lost their jobs, or the support from family and friends due to their own struggles.

Providing food is just one of four things we do to empower migrants in south London. We advocate, campaign, meet basic needs and improve the wellbeing of refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants in London.

To buy some balloons in the Valentine’s Day race, simply create an account (via the blue button at the bottom of this page) and then buy as many balloons as you like at £3 each.

Once you have signed up and paid for your balloon, you can personalise it by giving it a name and decorate it by choosing its shape, weight, colour and pattern. You can also choose the balloon’s rubber thickness (which can protect your balloon from bursting but is heavy) and helium content. (which can make it fly higher and therefore faster). This could matter as the balloon race is guided by real-time weather conditions.

Virtual balloons can even be gifted... After you've signed-up, simply purchase a balloon activation code for £3 each and then send the code to your family and friends. Please note that to join the race, gift codes must be activated half an hour before the race begins. The gift recipient can decorate, name, and track their balloon themselves. They may even win a prize!

The balloons "launch" on 14 February from the Eiffel Tower, Paris at 12pm. The race lasts for 7 days and you can follow the race in real-time online via Google map. The winners will be the balloons that reach the furthest point in a straight line. There will be hundreds of balloons in the race as you’ll be competing against other charities and organisations from across the UK.

EcoRace also has the following prizes for overall winners:
1st Place: £500 Cash
2nd Place: Apple iPad
3rd Place: 10 lucky winners of £10 Book Tokens

With the exception of a 21.7% admin fee the money raised will come directly to LRMN.
