Manchester Women's Aid (MWA) was merged in 2014 with The Pankhurst Trust which runs the iconic Pankhurst Centre, museum and women-only activity space. MWA is the region's largest specialist provider of domestic abuse services and their joint mission statement reflects the charitable objectives of both organisations:
1. To promote the equality of women
2. To protect women and their dependants who are suffering, or at risk of, domestic abuse by:-
- Providing services to relieve need, hardship and distress among such beneficiaries
- Promoting the mental and physical health and education of such beneficiaries
- Advancing awareness in the general public to issues of women’s equality and domestic abuse.
