Welcome to the Friends of Barrow Hill Junior School Virtual Balloon Race – we’d love you to take part in our Halloween fundraiser! This is virtual, so totally environmentally friendly and there is no risk to wildlife!!!

National Star Prizes (for the balloons that fly the furthest, from all charities joining this race):
* 1st: £100 cash prize
* 2nd: Amazon Alexa/Echo Dot 4th Generation

In addition to the national prizes Barrow Hill is offering its own Grand Year Group Prize! The Year group that sells most balloons will win a day trip to London Zoo! To be included in this prize, please ensure you include your class and year group on your balloon!

Each balloon costs just £3 and you can buy as many balloons as you want to increase your chances of winning. Every balloon really will make a difference.

Setting off from Dracula's castle, it's a seven-day computer simulation race where everything is real except the balloon. The direction and distance the balloons fly is based completely on the way you customise your balloon, and the weather during the week. Other hazards can also affect your balloons flight such as low flying geese if your balloon doesn't have enough helium! The winner of the race is the balloon that’s flown the furthest in ANY direction.

You can buy a virtual balloon for just £3 and give it a name, colour, shape and pattern. Please make sure that you add your class and year group to your balloon to ensure it's counted towards the year group prize! The software designed to run the race uses live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon and each entry can be tracked on Google Maps and Satellites once launched. You can alter your balloon’s parameters at any time to increase your chance of winning.

While we fully appreciate that this is a very difficult time for many, we are hoping that some of you may enjoy taking part in this fun event from the comfort of your own home while helping to support your child's educational experience at Barrow Hill Junior School. It is now more important than ever for us to pull together as a community to help our beloved school minimise the immense impact of soaring costs and funding gaps.
