10th Salisbury (St Francis) Brownies are part of Girlguiding. We enable girls to discover their potential, providing them with opportunities to thrive and actively participate, regardless of their background or abilities. Our mission is to give them a supportive space to grow and encourage them to make a difference. We offer a safe space for young people to develop lifelong friendships and acquire essential life skills.

The Brownies have been working on their Influence Skills Builder and Charites badge to gain their Take Action Theme Award. The Brownies have chosen to support a charity local to us Alabare. We have spent time with staff learning about the Charity and how it supports local young people and thinking about how it would feel to not have a home.

The Brownies have been asked to raise money to buy pillows and bedding sets for when a homeless person is taken into a shelter so they start with their own bedding which they get to keep as they move through the charity and finally into their own accommodation. The Brownies are going to go and buy these themselves next May.

No one should be forced to sleep on the streets - but Crisis estimated that around 227,000 people were experiencing the worst forms of homelessness – rough sleeping, sleeping in vans and sheds, and stuck in B&Bs – across England, Scotland and Wales in 2021.

Homelessness is difficult to quantify. There are many different types of homelessness with many living in cars, tents, public transport or sofa surfing with no fixed abode.

Our fundraising target is: £150
