Hello! I'm Jess, a first year student at Loughborough University.
In August 2020 a team of fellow university students and I hope to travel to Chiang Mai, Thailand with Challenges Abroad to provide much needed aid in two key areas, crucial elephant sanctuaries and disadvantaged rural Hill Tribes.

In Thailand elephants are often abused as working animals, in shows or for street begging. Elephant sanctuaries offer a safe haven for the far too many that end up disabled or blind. I will have the opportunity to tend for the elephants for a whole week, carrying out daily elephant duties such as feeding whilst encouraging interactivity and from those who struggle to mix with the other elephants. We bond with these beautiful animals through both care and play!

The second week of my trip our work takes us to the hill-tribes villages, located in the most remote locations, these hill-tribes perpetuate ancestral traditions, wearing hand-made clothing, and growing their own food. However as the rural-urban divide in Thailand continues to grow, these populations are continually marginalised. Here we work in several areas supporting education facilities to improve future generations opportunities. We provide conversational English language classes, help build schooling infrastructure and work alongside early education programmes.

However, the money I fundraise not only goes towards direct work in Thailand by our student team but, supports the continued work of The Future Sense Foundation. With a team based year-round in each country, FutureSense is able to work hand-in-hand with the local community, delivering programmes that make a long lasting impact.
I would be extremely grateful for any help in reaching my £1850 target, the donations you provide, however small, will really be helping a great cause! Changing lives is at the click of a button.
