Old Grammarians RFC is a completely volunteer-led organisation, so fundraising helps us to ensure we can continue to offer the best experience - Rugby-based and social - for all members. Funds raised will help go towards the purchase of new equipment for players.
So, Old Grammarians will be one of the many organisations participating in a CHRISTMAS DAY BALLOON RACE!
Setting off on 25th December from Santa's Village in Lapland, it's a seven-day computer simulation race where everything is real except the balloon. The direction and distance the balloons fly is based completely on the way you customise your balloon, and the weather during the week. Other hazards can also affect your balloons flight such as low flying geese if your balloon doesn't have enough helium!
There are national prizes up for grabs for the balloons that fly the furthest, from all organisations joining this race:
* 1st: £500 cash prize
* 2nd: Apple iPad
* 10 x £10 book tokens
There will also be a £50 prize exclusively for the furthest flying Old Grammarians Balloon.
Each balloon costs just £3 and you can buy as many balloons as you want to increase your chances of winning. Every balloon really will make a difference.
You can buy a virtual balloon and give it a name, colour, shape and pattern. The software designed to run the race uses live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon and each entry can be tracked on Google Maps and Satellites once launched. You can alter your balloon’s parameters at any time to increase your chance of winning.
