Manchester Youth Zone offers young people aged 6-19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. MYZ provides a safe, attractive, accessible and affordable place where young people can discover a world of possibilities. SOMEWHERE TO GO. A safe place that’s open when schools are shut. A place that’s got: a warm welcome, a bright lively environment and somewhere young people can take part in positive activities, make new friends, learn new skills and have new experiences. SOMETHING TO DO. We offer over 20 different activities per evening. Whether it’s having a roller disco, personal training in the gym, earning a bike by committing to our bike maintenance course or writing and performing plays, plus there’s a climbing wall, boxing gym, music room and much more in between! SOMEONE TO TALK TO. From relationships with Youth Workers on session, to one to one support from volunteer mentors – every voice is heard. There’s a real emphasis on offering young people positive role models and supporting their needs. A WORTHWHILE CAUSE Manchester Youth Zone is located in Harpurhey, the 2nd worst ward in England for the effect of long term deprivation on children, just outside Manchester city centre. Many in the surrounding area are vulnerable to poor educational attainment, future worklessness and to developing antisocial or offending behaviour.

OUR VIRTUAL BALLOON RACE
The Coronation Balloon Race is a computer simulation race where everything is real except the balloon! It’s 100% eco-friendly with no risk of harm to wildlife. The race simulates real weather conditions at that actual time such as the prevailing wind speed and current temperature and, reflecting real life, virtual balloons just like latex ones, can pop if the balloon parameters are not suited to the weather.

Each virtual balloon costs just £3 and you can buy as many balloons as you would like.

Setting off from Westminster Abbey, the balloons will be ‘released’ on Wednesday 2nd June 2021 at 12pm (noon) and race for 7 days.

Enjoy taking part in this fun event from the comfort of your own home and track your balloons live as they gently float across the virtual sky. The specialist software uses live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon and they can be tracked on Google Maps and satellites once the race has launched. You can alter your balloon’s parameters at any time to increase your chance of winning.

The race finishes on Tuesday 9th June 2021 at 12pm (noon). Winners will be contacted directly and announced on our social media platforms.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Simply sign-up (so we know who you are if you win), once you've paid for your balloon you can then name, personalise, and decorate your balloon via your dashboard by choosing the shape, colour, and pattern, plus the helium content and rubber thickness.

Virtual balloons can even be gifted and make a perfect 'virtual' gift.

To buy a balloon as a gift, once you've signed-up, simply purchase a balloon activation code for £3 each and send the code to your family and friends for them to activate. To join the race, gift codes must be activated by 11.30am on Wednesday 2nd June. The gift recipient can decorate, name, and track their balloon themselves. They may even win a prize!
