We are raising funds towards an exciting new project for our Early Years (age 3-5) pupils! The project is to build an all-weather outdoor learning area which will be used for focused maths, English and other curriculum tasks and an outdoor road track with an underground tunnel. This will mean we can provide more outdoor learning, free flow from the classroom and a wider variety of activities in all weather conditions. The structure will have a 'den-like' feel but with a robust polycarbonate roof and steel legs and we will be putting new drainage into the area so that even in heavy rain the equipment will be protected.

We asked Early Years parents for their thoughts on their project and one parent said, “We think it would be a great idea for the school to provide a weather-proof outside learning area. Being in fresh air, connecting with nature is all so important for children’s physical and mental wellbeing. It also gives additional comfort for parents who might be feeling anxious as it’s been proven the covid virus spreads less outside. Our family particularly values the time spent outside, living in a flat with no balcony or garden means that there are limited options for quality time outside during the work week and it would be a huge comfort to know our son gets that time whilst at school.”

The 'Schools Out' virtual balloon race is a 7-day 100% eco-friendly computer simulation race where everything is real except the balloon!

A virtual balloon costs just £3 and you can buy as many balloons as you like, decorate and name them, then track their progress via Google Maps after the race begins on 17th July on the Ecoracing website. We will be amongst other schools, organisations and charities taking part in the race. First prize for the balloon that travels the farthest is £500 cash, second prize is an Apple iPad and there will also be 10 lucky winners of £10 book tokens.

To buy a balloon click on the button below and follow the payment process through. To decorate your balloons, choose colours and names and and change the helium content and rubber thickness go to your dashboard and click on 'view/decorate/track' where you can edit each of your balloons!
