This small independent charity is incredibly important, and our contributions would go a long way. DOTS was the first independent voluntary project for street dogs. It runs weekly stations around London where homeless people can access free food, medicine, grooming, training, and vet care for their dogs. This charity is crucial not just for the dogs, but their carers for whom the affection, protection, warmth, and companionship of their dogs is essential. Given that homeless people cannot use 90% of hostels with their dogs, many are forced to remain sleeping rough rather than lose their dog. DOTS’ kennels and fosterers enable homeless people with dogs to attend interviews, housing meetings, hospital appointments, and can take care of the dogs if their caregiver becomes unwell.
