Howdale Pax supports and maintains the Downham Market Scout & Guide Association Headquarters - a vital community space used each week by nearly 180 young people across Scouts and Girlguiding.

From Rainbows, Brownies and Rangers to Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, the hut gives young people aged 4-18 a place to grow, learn and thrive.

Now over 35 years old, the building has seen major improvements in recent years, including new toilets and a refurbished kitchen. But more work is needed, including upgrading our ageing heating system to make the hut more efficient, cost-effective and fit for the future.

To help us reach our £500 fundraising target, we’re taking part in the Summer Solstice Virtual Balloon Race.

For just £3, you can buy (or gift) a virtual balloon before the race launches from Stonehenge on 21 June 2026. Over 7 days, balloons travel using real weather conditions, with prizes for the balloons that fly furthest in the national race:

You can name and customise your balloon, track it live throughout the race, and buy as many as you like, every balloon helps support our hut and the young people who use it.
