Welcome to James Gillespie's Primary School’s first ever Virtual Balloon Race – we’d love you to take part in our Halloween fundraiser! This is virtual, so totally environmentally friendly and there is no risk to wildlife!!!

National Star Prizes (for the balloons that fly the furthest, from all causes joining this race):

Each balloon costs just £3 and you can buy as many balloons as you want to increase your chances of winning. Every balloon really will make a difference.

Setting off from Dracula's castle, it's a seven-day computer simulation race where everything is real except the balloon. The direction and distance the balloons fly is based completely on the way you customise your balloon, the weather during the week. Other hazards can also affect your balloons flight such as low flying geese if your balloon doesn't have enough helium! The winner of the race is the balloon that’s flown the furthest in ANY direction.

You can buy a virtual balloon for just £3 and give it a name, colour, shape and pattern. The software designed to run the race uses live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon and each entry can be tracked on Google Maps and Satellites once launched.

You can alter your balloon’s parameters at any time to increase your chance of winning.

Due to Covid-19 we sadly had to cancel many of our usual fundraising events. These events help to raise needed funds to support varied projects at the school all with the primary goal of enhancing the children’s experience at school.

While we fully appreciate and understand that this is a very difficult time for many, we are hoping that some of you may enjoy taking part in this fun event from the comfort of your own home and helping us to recoup some of the funds that the school will have lost out on this year.

Please do share our virtual balloon race with as many friends and family members that you can (you can even gift balloons!) and we thank you all for your ongoing support for our school fundraising as we all continue to navigate through this tough period.
