The Parent Teachers Association (PTA) at Avenue Primary Academy is run by a small committee of parents/carers, whose children currently attend the school. We work together with the teachers to plan and run a series of events throughout the year. The funds we raise go directly to the school, for equipment and resources to improve the learning environment for both current and future pupils.

It's been an extremely tough year for everyone, and Covid has meant that we’ve not been able to run any events for the School for over a year. This, in turn, means that we have run out of money to give.

The Coronation balloon race marks the 68th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation and is run nationally, alongside other charities.

You can take part by buying, decorating, and setting the parameters of your own balloon, which then takes part in a 7 day virtual balloon race. Being virtual means that it is 100% eco-friendly, leaving no litter or harming any animals. The race uses real-time weather data, such as prevailing wind speed and direction and current temperature, to calculate balloon positions and you can see the race unfold on Google Maps!

There are some great prizes to be won and we hope that the children will enjoy tracking their balloon’s progress along the way.
