Welcome to our Christmas Virtual Balloon Race.

In the summer we launched our first Balloon Race and despite difficult circumstances it was an amazing success. We have therefore decided to run a festive race, leaving from Lapland on Christmas Day, to bid goodbye to 2020 with a bang (although hopefully not literally)!

We are hoping to raise £400 in aid of our school to provide vital resources that are beyond the schools own budget. With your help Friends of Barnburgh Primary School (PTA) have raised several thousand pounds which has been used to upgrade the trim trail and we are thrilled to have purchased a virtual Pantomime for the children to enjoy this Christmas when so many traditional celebrations are not accessible.

In the past December has seen the school running Christmas fairs and raffles, but sadly this year we are unable to do that, so we decided that after the summer Balloon Race was so well received we would enlist Santa's help and launch the balloons from Lapland. As before this race is virtual (no actual balloons will be released) therefore the event is Covid secure and environmentally friendly (no litter and no risk to wildlife).

Usually we would ask you to buy raffle tickets at one of our seasonal events, but we can’t do that this year. So here’s your chance to take part in a fundraising event for just £3, and we really do mean it when we say every single donation or balloon entry makes a difference.

If you could share this event with your family and friends, we would really appreciate it – maybe you could have a family competition to see whose balloon travels the furthest? This Christmas Day Race will set off virtually from Lapland on December 25th. Schools and organisations from across the UK will compete to see whose balloon has travelled the furthest.

We have been absolutely blown away by the support of local businesses who, despite probably experiencing their toughest ever year, have stepped up and offered an array of amazing prizes. We can not thank them enough for putting our school and children first.

⭐️ Have a positive start to 2021 with an hour of coaching, counselling or tutoring donated by respected Life Coach Dan Vockins.

⭐️ Voucher for use at HLM Studio in High Melton where you can have Hayleigh Louise transform your with nails with a complimentary dry manicure and gel nails.

⭐️ Brighten your home with a beautiful floral display from Sheila's Florists - Vicky is donating not one, but two vouchers!

⭐️ Bottle of Port donated by amazing community members.

⭐️ One months free football coaching at any Doncaster Academy from Kixx Doncaster!!

⭐️ Have a healthy boost to 2021 with 6 weeks course at Barnburgh Slimming World (worth up to £30) kindly donated by Lisa Noakes our local consultant.

☃️ And 10 runners up prizes of a winter car care kit kindly donated by City Motor Factors in Sheffield.

As if that wasn't enough each balloon is also in the running for one of the great National Prizes up for Grabs - don't forget that our summer winner also won a National Prize too!!!

Our target is to sell 200 balloons - we smashed it in the summer but can we do it again? Of course we can!
