St John Fisher PTFA - Raising funds for the Oasis (Part 2)!

Last year we held out first ever virtual balloon race, which was a great success, raising over £300 which made a real impact on the newly renovated "Oasis" outdoor learning area. As the Covid restrictions have continued into this year, yet again we have been limited in the ways we have been able to fundraise. So we would like to invite everyone to enter into the virtual balloon race once again to help us continue to develop the Oasis in phase 2. We plan to improve the area by creating outdoor growing areas to be used by pupils across all years.

You can buy a virtual balloon or balloons for £3 and give it a name, colour, shape and pattern. A computer simulation uses real weather information to guide the balloons, which can be tracked on your smartphone or computer over the course of a week. The race starts on July 17th (the day after school breaks up for summer).

The winner is the balloon that gets the furthest by the end of the week from the starting point in Manaus, Brazil. The balloon that travels furthest from our competition will win 20% of the profit*, 2nd prize is 10% and 3rd prize is 5%**. You will also be in with a chance to win prizes from the organisers including £500 for the overall winner, an Apple iPad and £10 book vouchers. So please enjoy decorating and tracking your balloons, you can enter as many times as you like, share with your friends and family! We hope that with the help of everyone we will be able to make the Oasis a really special place to learn.

*As Ecoracing take their administration charge of 22.8% from the cost of each balloon

**As an example, if we sell 100 balloons, 1st prize would = £46.32, 2nd prize = £23.16, 3rd prize = £11.58. The prize fund goes up and up the more we sell, so keep sharing!
