St Michael's PTA is a registered charity who aim to raise much needed funds for the school in order to provide new equipment and encounters that enhance and enrich the educational experience of the pupils at St Michael’s.

St Michael's will be just one of the many charities in the balloon race.

There are national prizes up for grabs for the balloons that fly the furthest, from all charities joining this race:
* 1st: £500 cash prize
* 2nd: Apple iPad
* 10 x £10 book tokens

There will also be a £50 prize exclusively for the furthest flying St Michael's balloon!!

Each balloon costs just £3 and you can buy as many balloons as you want to increase your chances of winning. Every balloon really will make a difference.

Setting off on 1st December from Tiffany's in New York, it's a seven-day computer simulation race where everything is real except the balloon. The direction and distance the balloons fly is based completely on the way you customise your balloon, and the weather during the week. Other hazards can also affect your balloons flight such as low flying geese if your balloon doesn't have enough helium!

You can buy a virtual balloon for just £3 and give it a name, colour, shape and pattern. The software designed to run the race uses live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon and each entry can be tracked on Google Maps and Satellites once launched. You can alter your balloon’s parameters at any time to increase your chance of winning.
