Welcome to the Friends' first ever Virtual Balloon Race – we’d love you to take part in our Christmas fundraiser! This is a seven day computer-stimulate race done in real time and based on real weather data. Being a virtual race, it will be totally environmentally friendly and there is no risk to wildlife!!!

Prizes for the balloons that fly the furthest (from all charities joining this race) will be:

* 1st: £500 cash prize
* 2nd: iPad
* 10 book tokens worth £10 each

There will also be PRIZES EXCLUSIVELY for our furthest flying Friends' Balloons.

The prizes for the Friends' balloons which cover the most distance over the week long race are:

*1st Place - £50 Amazon Voucher
*2nd Place - £20 book tokens to be spent anywhere
*3rd Place - £10 Dunns Voucher
*4th Place - £10 Dunns Voucher

Each balloon costs just £3 and you can buy as many balloons as you want for family and friends or if you want to increase your chances of winning. As well as taking part in the overall race and competing with your friends you could have a competition between you and family members or friends to see whose balloons travel the furthest.

Setting off from Santa's Workshop in Lapland, the balloons fly over seven-days, in a computer simulated race where everything is real except the balloon. The direction and distance the balloons fly is based completely on the way you customise your balloon, and the weather during the week. Other hazards can also affect your balloons flight such as low flying geese if your balloon doesn't have enough helium! Eeek! The winner of the race is the balloon that’s flown the furthest in ANY direction.

You can buy a virtual balloon for just £3 and give it a name, colour, shape and pattern. The software designed to run the race uses live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon and entries can be tracked on Google Maps and Satellites once launched.

You can alter your balloon’s parameters at any time before the race departs to improve your chance of winning.

Due to Covid-19 we sadly had to cancel our Christmas Fair, and will probably have to cancel many of our usual fundraising activities in the new year. These online events help to raise needed funds to support varied projects at the school as well as contribute towards activities for all the classes, with the primary goal of enhancing the children’s experience at school.
