All WIs have the aim of advancing the education of women and girls and we do that in all sorts of ways but there is no reason why we should not have a little fun while doing it
We took part in the ecoracing.co balloon race at Easter and now we are repeating the fun by joining the 7 day Coronation Race starting from Westminster Abbey at 12md on 2nd June 2021
A virtual balloon race reminds us of the need to conserve helium, stop plastic waste and also of the benefits of doing things together
Plastic pollution has been highlighted during the Covid19 pandemic as everything now seems to have a ‘disposable plastic’ element and we all know that the majority of plastic is not recyclable. Real balloons also contribute to plastic pollution and destroy our rivers and oceans.
During 2020 WI members also debated the unregulated use of our precious and irreplaceable, helium gas, so vital to MRI machines and decided that it should not to be wasted on balloons.
Being committed to preserving and conserving everything from jams to the planet, we will be sharing all our profits with The Woodland Trust.
Come and race with us for seven days starting from Westminster Abbey at 12MD on 2nd June 2021; it is such fun
