Welcome to West Norfolk Swimming Club’s Valentines Virtual Balloon Race!

After the success of the Christmas race, we want to get straight into another fun competition that everyone can get involved in.

We are raising funds to support the club whilst having some competitive fun. Due to covid-19 our usual fundraising staples of Open meets and club champs couldn’t take place this year. Your magnificent efforts over the summer with the Crowdfunder plugged a £10k gap, but with increased operating costs, club funds are taking a sizeable hit every month. Ongoing fundraising is needed to protect the future of the club, so we can continue to deliver the best #PurpleArmy experiences for our members in the short, medium and long term.

So, here we have our Valentines fundraiser, which we want you to take part in, and to encourage everyone you know to do so too.

Firstly, the Balloon race is VIRTUAL, so it’s totally environmentally friendly and there is no risk to any wildlife!!!

In brief, you buy a (virtual) balloon for £3.00. You choose your colour, shape, how much (virtual) helium goes in it. When the balloons are (virtually) released, you can track your balloon for the 7 days of the event.
The aim is to have your balloon travel the furthest from the launch site over the course of the race.

Its a national race. We will be competing against each others AND other fundraising groups including schools, organisations and charities. Prizes for the national race:
1st - £500
2nd – iPad
3rd – 10 x £10 book tokens.

WNSC will also be awarding prizes to the top TWENTY balloons which were bought for us.
Details of the prizes will follow shortly, but you’ve got to be in it to win it, and with 20 club prizes you stand a really good chance of doing just that...........

You can track your balloon(s) all week. You can track the 100 leading balloons in the National race too. Your balloon might even be one of them!

You can name and customise every balloon you buy creating much excitement within your household as you track your balloons daily.

For added competition and excitement you can also alter your balloon’s parameters at any time before the start of the race to help increase your chances of winning.

The 7-day race goes live with a launch from The Eiffel Tower in Paris at noon on Valentines Day 2021.

You can watch on Google maps as they all leave and fly to wherever the current weather conditions take them! (computer software uses current live weather data to determine the progress of each virtual balloon)

There is no limit to the amount of balloons which you buy; the more you purchase the greater your chances of winning one of the fantastic prizes, and every balloon you buy will help the club.
